Ana Pridgen (11th) performe again with Macy’s Great American Marching Band as part of the 88th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “The 2014 lineup included six high school marching bands, two university bands, a police band, two all-star bands, and a massive drum & bugle corps. The groups performed for more than 3.5 million spectators and 50 million viewers nationwide during the 2014 parade.” (Source: www.marching.com )
Congratulations to Nolan Stevens (catcher) who has signed to play baseball with Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, MS. Stevens batted .310 last year with 18 RBI. As a junior he was selected to the D2A West All District 1 Team, All Region Team, All Regional Tournament Team, and the Commercial Appeal’s All Shelby Metro Team.
The Happy in Memphis 5k was a fabulous success! Over 560 registered for the race and record 348 runners completed the course on Saturday, November 8. The race began and ended on our beautiful Cherry Road campus. Participants enjoyed a new 5k course, certified by Start2Finish, which will took runners by notable Memphis landmarks such as:
Runners dressed to reflect what made them Happy in Memphis: Elvis, the University of Memphis Tigers, the Grizzlies, and more! Chip timing and race results were provided by Start 2 Finish. See race results at Racesonline.com.
Congratulations to Coach Kevin Starks (’93) for being selected as the A. F. Bridges Athletic Director of the Year for TSSAA athletic district 9. This award is given for displaying the high ideals of integrity and ethics as well as exemplifying good citizenship and sportsmanship.
Congratulations to our cross country teams who placed 3rd (boys) and 7th (girls) at State. On the boys team, Christopher Galbreath and Clayton Sharp medaled – placed in the top 15. On the girls team, Bailey Petrey and Alex Kelly both placed in the Top 25! Way to go! We are so proud of you. Congratulations to Coaches Ronn Rubio, Andrew Gandee, Seth King, Dianne Stalcup, and Debby Hayes!
