Steve Avery

Steve and his wife, Suzanne, attend Highland Church of Christ and have three children—Cameron (’13), Falon (’15), and Miles (’23). His favorite things to do in Memphis are attending sporting events, eating at good restaurants, and spending time with his family.

He is currently Operations Manager for Next Story, a new HopeWorks program. This faith-based organization helps men readjust into society from prison.

Steve’s deep hope for Harding is that it continues to be a place where students don’t just excel academically, but grow into compassionate, grounded, young people who understand their purpose and impact. He hopes that Harding continues to cultivate a culture of faith and belonging amongst students and root out any prejudices.

Steve has previously served on our board (2014–2024), including time as chairman.
