Russell Jung Named Upper School Volleyball Coach
We are thrilled to announce Russell Jung as our upper school volleyball coach beginning this summer.
Coach Russell earned his BA in Exercise Physiology from California State University and his Masters in Theology from Covenant Theological Seminary. While at CSU, Chico, he played setter for the Chico Wildcats JV team and has continued to play in adult leagues as a setter and hitter.
Coach Russell has coached at Westminster High School in St. Louis, Woodland Presbyterian Church and School, MHEA, Memphis Volleyball Academy, Viper Volleyball Club, and Memphis Juniors. He is also the director of the Woodland Spring League which promotes developmental volleyball for 12u and 14u players.
In addition, Coach Russell has served in ministry for over 20 years. Currently, he is the director of family ministry at Woodland Presbyterian Church. He has been married to his wife, Jennifer, for 27 years, and they have four children— Matthew, Timothy, Emma, and Andrew.
Coach Russell said, “I’m excited to join the Harding Academy family and to lead the volleyball program for God’s glory. I’m looking forward to getting to know the players and families and building on the excellent tradition of Harding volleyball.”
Coach King said, “I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity to work alongside Russell Jung. He is a Christ-centered coach whose primary focus is discipleship through the game of volleyball. His coaching experience, passion for the gospel, and love for the city of Memphis make him a great fit for our historic volleyball program.”
