Harding Academy’s lower school recently gave a memorable performance of Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio, under the direction of Jennifer Daniels Aycock. In a very different adaption of Italy’s most famous classic, the cast and audience traveled from the depths of the sea to help Pinocchio overcome his temptations and fears, things that can be fought only with the help of true friends found along the way. A shared performance of three Pinocchios along with villains, fairies, and crickets helped bring to life this timeless tale. Over 100 parents and students registered to stay after the opening night performance for a LevelUp event, a “talk back” session and photo opportunities with the director and actors ranging in age from 7 to 12 years. It was fun to hear the young cast describe their sense of accomplishment after completing their first live performance. This was a perfect beginning to Harding’s theatre season.
