Varsity Track Heads to State

State Meet Update as of Thursday, May 21: Antoinette Lewis placed 3rd in shot put; girls 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams both placed 5th; girls 4×400 relay team placed 6th.

State Meet Update as of Tuesday, May 19: Sarah Luttrell finished 6th in the pentathlon at the state championships on Monday, May 18. She was 3rd among freshmen and sophomores, and 2nd among the athletes from West Tennessee.

Congratulations to the varsity track team for their outstanding performance at the regional meet on Friday, May 15. Both boys and girls 4×100, 4×200, and 4×400 teams will advance to the state championship May 18–22 at MTSU in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Results from the regional meet at MUS are below:

Sarah Luttrell (3rd place- 100m Hurdles)

Antoinette Lewis (1st place- shot put; new school record; qualifies for state)
Deanna Hutson (5th place- 300m Hurdles)
4×100 Relay Team (1st place; qualifies for state)
4×200 Relay Team (2nd place; new school record; qualifies for state)
4×400 Relay Team (2nd place; new school record; qualifies for state)
4×800 Relay Team (6th place)

The girls finished 4th overall and 2nd in Class A.

BOYS
Calvin Austin III (1st place- 100m Dash; qualifies for State)
Calvin Ausitn III (1st place- 200m Dash; qualifies for State)
Nick Martin (2nd place- 200m Dash; qualifies for State)
Marquavious Moore (3rd place- 110m Hurdles)
Jesse Adkins (3rd place- high jump; and qualifies for State)
4×100 Relay Team (1st place; new school record; qualifies for State)
4×200 Relay Team (1st place; qualifies for State)
4×400 Relay Team (2nd place; qualifies for State)
4×800 Relay Team (4th place)

The boys finished 4th overall on field events and are region champions in Class A.
