Galvin Sims Named Head Baseball Coach

We are excited to announce Galvin Sims, Sr. as the head coach of our baseball program. Coach Sims brings decades of coaching experience to Harding Academy, most recently serving as the head coach at Whitehaven High School.

Coach Sims has deep roots in Memphis and has coached with various schools and organizations over the past 25 years. During his career, he has led schools to district championships and region appearances. Over his past three seasons, he has accumulated 65 wins.

Coach Sims is a student-focused coach, constantly attentive to his athletes’ GPAs and college opportunities. He attends Greater New Liberty Church and is active in several ministries.

Coach Sims said, “I appreciate the opportunity to be able to work for such a prestigious institution and such a great community, I’m excited to be in a position to help young men reach their dreams and goals and to help lead and guide them on the right path. GO, LIONS!” 

Athletic director Seth King added, “We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Sims into the Harding community. As we talked with people around Memphis, it was apparent that Coach Sims is a man who loves Jesus, students, and baseball with his whole heart. I am excited to see Coach Sims build on our proud baseball legacy led by Coach Bodiford, Coach Stevens, and Coach Spragg. I am excited for the future of Harding Academy baseball and the lives that Coach Sims will impact.”
