Canstruction 2022

Our engineering class donated 1,093 cans of food to the Mid-South Food Bank through the University of Memphis’s Canstruction competition. Their design was called “Wal-CAN in Memphis” and won Best Use of Labels and Best TinkerCad Design. Check out the timelapse video of the construction below. Thank you to everyone who donated cans of food, and a special shout-out to Mrs. Morgan for all the important work she does to prepare our students for this event. #hardingstrong

“With your running shoes laced, you’ve ‘Touched down in the Home of the Delta Blues’, where barbecue and music fill the air, ready for the St. Jude marathon to begin. You’re “Wal-CAN in Memphis” with your feet ten CANs off of Beale. Rock-CAN-roll music moves through the bustling street under a Sun Studios sunrise full of soul, and the Memphis River pulses with rhythm. B.B. King’s Blues Club greets you, filled with laughter, love, and never-ending movement. Guitar strings plucking and soul-filled voices are sure move you when you arrive. As you step off of Beale and move towards the starting line of the St. Jude Marathon, the music of hope and strength move your feet as the race begins to support CAN-tastic doctors and kids kickin’ CANcer. Stopping for a water break, you admire the gar-CAN-tuan Memphis Pyramid.
Watch out for the trolley and ignore the sweet smell of Memphis ribs and keep moving towards the finish line. As you run through the Memphis Zoo, you CAN see the CAN-thers, chimp-CAN-zees, and CANda bears. As you near the finish line, you hear “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” roaring fans, booming fireworks, the CAN-cophony of Autozone park moves you towards the finish line. CANgratulations on finishing the marathon. Now that moving through the sights and sounds of Memphis have moved your soul, time to go find the ghost of Elvis on Union Avenue…”
