The week before Christmas break students in SK–Grade 2 presented an energetic and entertaining Christmas program that certainly got us all in the Christmas spirit.

“Consider it joy…” the Bible says –
Life is full of tests.
Christmas time is full of joy,
And Christmas tests are the best!

When we think of Christmas, we think of snow –
It’s a test that depends on the weather!
Will we be sledding and snowman creating,
Or will we even be wearing a sweater?
No matter if snow is outside, cold, and wet,
Or if it’s only a dream,
Christmas joy makes only wishes of snow
Like a world that is all white and clean.

Christmas brings baking and sweet cookie making.
The smells will test your composure!
Will we be able to eat with our manners,
Or shovel food like a bulldozer?
The joy of Christmas makes food such a gift –
Thank you, mom, for all of your cooking!
The test is if we can eat all the treats
And still stay really good looking!

Watching the movies about Santa Claus
And all the toys he will bring
Tests our patience until Christmas comes
And the wrapping paper we fling!
The spirit of giving tests our hearts –
We certainly don’t want to be selfish!
When we get the chance to plan a surprise,
Our connection to Santa is elfish!

“Consider it joy” this time of year –
We have joy no matter what!
Harding Academy is a place
Where joy will never be cut!
We learn; we play; we certainly work!
But with all there is to be done,
We have the joy that Jesus brings –
Life with Him is so much fun!
He came to the earth, this Son of God
To show us the way to real joy.
Real joy doesn’t come from snow or good food
Or even our favorite toy.
The joy that Jesus brings is spread through love,
And when we are kind to each other,
We share the joy that matters the most
With our friends or our parents or brothers.
We consider it joy that God shared with us
The gift of His wonderful Son.
This joyous season gives us a chance
To celebrate that Holy One.
