Fifth Graders Win DAR Awards
DAR awards were presented to these 5th grade students at chapel today.
Congratulations to Jocelyn Stanley whose essay, “The Voyage of the Mayflower,” won for the Watauga chapter of The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Fifth graders wrote essays about what they would pack to prepare for the trip on the Mayflower in 1620. They researched items that would have been available and determined how to use them to stay alive and comfortable.
Calla Henton and Aiden Brown also participated in the poster contest, “Tennessee’s Perfect 36: How Tennessee Gave Women the Right to Vote.” Calla’s poster won for the chapter and will now be submitted to the state competition.
