Greg Eubanks Named Athletic Director and Boys Basketball Coach

We are thrilled to announce that Mr. Greg Eubanks will be joining the Harding family as our next athletic director and head boys basketball coach. Greg comes to Harding Academy after spending the previous nine years at Ensworth High School in Nashville. He worked with the boys basketball team as the interim head coach (2017–18), assistant varsity, head junior varsity, and head freshman coach. Ensworth won four consecutive Division 2-AA state championships (2011–2014) during his time on staff. In addition to on-the-floor coaching and planning practice, he was responsible for scheduling, ordering equipment and uniforms, and making travel arrangements. He was also in charge of spring, summer, and fall workouts, and he worked with the medical trainers, faculty, strength coaches, and nutritionist in regards to the well being of the players. He also communicated with parents, media, and the community, and he ran the sports social media channels. Additionally, he organized and ran the popular basketball camps. During his time at Ensworth, he also coached cross country, track, tennis, and bowling.

Greg also served as the Service Learning Coordinator at Ensworth. These duties included organizing quarterly service days for the high school students and faculty. Two service days feature 400 students and faculty serving at 30 different local non-profits. One service day welcomes 500 Special Olympic athletes and guests for an annual Sports Festival. The fourth service day features 25 non-profits visiting campus for an annual Social Issues Conference. In his time at Ensworth, the Social Issues Conference expanded to include nationally known keynote speakers and entertainment. Additionally, the school created a Service Scholar program, published the Service Scholar papers, and became a certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award. He presented at the 2018 Service Learning conference for the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education in Baltimore, Maryland on “How to create a successful Social Issues Conference.”

Greg graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in management from Lipscomb University where he played basketball for legendary coach Don Meyer. His senior class is the winning-est class in the history of college basketball (145 wins, 16 losses). He began his coaching career at Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama as an assistant men’s coach. After earning his MBA from Auburn University–Montgomery, he entered a sales career for 15 years.

He is married to the former Amy Johnston and is the father of 3 children: Mattie, a kindergarten teacher in Pelham, Alabama; Ed, a freshman at Lipscomb University; and Lucy, a freshman at Samford University.
