2017 Track Region & Field Championships
May 18 Track Events:
Congratulations to our
Lions and Lady Lions track teams!
Both teams won the class A region championship. This was the Lion’s 5th consecutive title and the 2nd straight title for the Lady Lions. The guys finished 2nd overall among all schools, and the girls finished 3rd overall. Calvin Austin III stole the show with 1st place finishes in the 100, 200, and 400. He set region records and school records in all 3 events. He was also on our 1st place 4×200 team, which also set a school and region record. That relay is the fastest of any team in Tennessee (by more than a second), and we’re back in the national top-25 as of tonight.
Here’s a list of all of our automatic qualifiers for state: Calvin Austin III, Nick Martin, Julian Isabel, James Townsdin, Ty Kimberlin, guys 4×200 relay, guys 4×400 relay, guys 4×800 relay, Antoinette Lewis, Jamisen Cobb, girls 4×100 relay, and girls 4×200 relay.
