Kynadi Brasfield selected for Mayor Luttrell’s Youth Council
Senior Kynadi Brasfield has been selected for Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell’s Youth Council and was inducted on September 20. Over 250 students applied for positions on the Youth Council which is beginning its third year, but only 30 comprise the Council. Mayor Luttrell formed the Council to gain perspectives and insights from young people in Shelby County.
“The Youth Council is a great opportunity for me to hear from the young people in this community, while giving them a chance to learn about County Government and civic engagement in general. These young people are the future of this region and I believe we should engage them early and often,” Mayor Luttrell said.
Kynadi and her fellow Youth Council members will participate in County Government Day in January, attend monthly meetings, and participate in activities such as political debates, community service, and resume writing.
Kynadi is the daughter of Karen Brasfield, and she has been a student at Harding since elementary school.
