Congratulations to two Harding seniors!

Carliss Settles and Emmitt Thomas each sign a letter of intent to play football at Austin Peay State University.

Carliss Settles (left), a 5’10” 185 pound running back and free safety, is regarded as one of the most physical and intense players to ever come out of Harding Academy. His play on both sides of the ball sets him apart from most. During his career Carliss has amassed over 2,000 career yards. He has had 1,627 yards rushing on 281 carries while also catching the ball for another 412 yards on 34 receptions. He ended his high school career with 23 total touchdowns. Carliss also relentlessly monitored the defensive backfield during his career at Harding Academy while totaling 157 career tackles, 8 interceptions, 19 pass break-ups, and 3 fumble recoveries. Carliss was honored as a an All-District player in 2013 and 2014 and was selected to play in this year’s Liberty Bowl All-Star game.

Emmitt Thomas (right)  is a 6’0″ 220 inside linebacker.  Emmitt’s love for the game and his love to prepare on a weekly basis allowed him to dominate from the defensive side of the ball.  He leaves Harding Academy with the rare reputation as a fierce tackler with a very cerebral approach to the game.  He ended his career with 201 tackles, 6 caused fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 9 pass break-ups, and 2 interceptions. Emmitt was honored as an All-District player in 2013 and 2014 and was selected as a Memphis Best of Preps following his senior season.
