Pottery 13.1 Marathon @ Harding Academy

As the director of the Institute for Faith and the Arts I’ve had the pleasure to witness countless ways that the spiritual convictions of an artist can impact the world. I have seen Broadway actors, published authors and many professional musicians show our students at Harding Academy how artists can impact the culture and make an impact for the Kingdom with their gifts.

Now, through my position as the 3-D Arts instructor at Harding, I am honored with a chance to raise awareness and funding for the Institute for Faith and the Arts and to also help students a world away in Ghana, West Africa. On Saturday, February 27, I will “run” in my first ever Pottery Half Marathon. Starting at 8:00 a.m. in the pottery studio at our Cherry Road campus, I will be making ceramic pieces for 13.1 hours! In the spring I will sell the work at a pop up shop somewhere in the East Memphis area. All of the funds from the sale of the ceramic pieces will be donated to The Pearl House (75%) and the Institute for Faith and the Arts (25%).

It is my hope that this Pottery Half Marathon will bring awareness and much needed funding to the important kingdom work being done by my good friend Courtney Garland at The Pearl House. The goal of her work is to minister to homeless teen-aged girls in order to provide refuge for them and to teach them Truth which will give them freedom and hope for the present and future.

Funds and awareness will also be raised for the Institute for Faith and the Arts at Harding Academy. This organization consistently brings Christians who are working artists in the top of their fields to interact with students at Harding Academy and the Memphis community. The institute aims to inspire students to see how they can bring their faith in God into their careers of all kinds and bring glory to their Creator in ways that we have yet to imagine.

Please help me make this half marathon possible by sponsoring a mile of the Pottery Half Marathon for $20. This amount of money will buy one 25lb. bag of clay that I will use to as I create. Let’s run together and glorify God’s name via the arts at Harding Academy.

Let Mercy Lead,
Eddy Efaw
