Walter Spears

Walter and his wife Valerie have a daughter, Madison (’20), who graduated from Harding Academy and went on to Spelman College. Walter is a Chaplain Manager at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. His favorite thing about his job is that he gets to live out his calling by serving as a catalyst similar to the way Jesus supported the disciples on the Emmaus Road.

Walter loves spending time at home working on lawn and garden projects with his wife. He also enjoys auto restoration projects and bike rides at Shelby Farms. His favorite Memphis meal is salmon and grits.

Walter’s favorite thing about Harding Academy is that it has been the place where he has watched his daughter become the young woman she is today. When asked about his deep hope for Harding Academy, Walter replied, “I hope that Harding can actively address social ills by continuing the Christian tradition of making disciples.”
