African American History Students Visit Civil Rights History
Our junior African American History class recently returned from their civil rights pilgrimage to Alabama. With stops in Birmingham, Selma, and Montgomery, they walked in the footsteps of those who fought for justice, freedom, and equality. They visited the 16th Street Baptist Church, Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, Kelly Ingram Park, Legacy Museum, Freedom Sculpture Park, National Memorial for Peace and Justice, and Edmund Pettus Bridge. Although the weight of this history can feel heavy, its lessons are invaluable. Our deep hope is that this experience fuels our students’ determination to be justice seekers and community builders, honoring the Imago Dei in every person.
