History Day Competition

Harding Academy has nine students competing in the History Day competition at the University of Memphis this Saturday, February 27.

These 3 groups qualified for the district competition by writing a research paper on the above topic and creating a project in the above category, and winning the school level contest. Saturday they will present before judges and compete against winners from other schools in the area for a chance to go to state in Nashville in April.

Tennessee History Day is the state affiliate of the National History Day competition. Six preliminary district competitions take place in West Tennessee, Middle Tennessee, North Middle Tennessee, East Tennessee, Northeast Tennessee, and Southeast Tennessee in February and March culminating with the state level competition in April. State-level winners move on to the National History Day competition in June. History Day is a year-long curriculum enhancement program that engages students in grades 6-12 in the process of discovery and interpretation of historical topics.
