Friday, February 6, 2015 – Memphis Mayor A C Wharton read to the student body at Harding White Station. These students, ages 2–grade 6 listened intently! Thanks you, Mayor Wharton, for spending the morning with our White Station students.

This is what was shared in the early childhood principal’s letter:
“Our students have been truly blessed this week by the generosity of several important people. We are so thankful to Chief Deputy Adams (MPD), Cameron Freeman (minister), James Curry (MFD), and A C Wharton, Mayor of Memphis, for taking time from their busy schedules to come and talk to us about what they do on a daily basis and to read to us. These guests were invited because they are African Americans who are significant contributors to the well-being of our community. Jesus said that anyone who wishes to be great must be a servant. Even though he was the Son of God, he still served those around him, giving us an example that we should follow. We owe a great debt of gratitude to those individuals who protect and serve us. God has given them servant hearts and a willingness to work for our safety and security. We were honored with the opportunity to hear them speak and to thank them for what they do.”
