Academic All–Stars

Congratulations to Caleb Cranford who is a Commercial Appeal Academic All–Star in Music.


Caleb, a senior, is a high achiever in both academics and music. He holds a 4.93 weighted grade point average and score 33 on the ACT.

Recently, he was named a National Merit Finalist and the valedictorian of his senior class. He was selected for the All State Honor Choir three times and the All-State Band twice. He qualified regionally for All West Band and All South West Honor Choir every year for the past five years.

As a junior, he received the National School Choral Award, the highest honor for high school choral performers. He also received the Barry Lumpkin Memorial Award for most outstanding junior band musician and the Arion Award for most outstanding sophomore band musician. 

In addition, Caleb has performed in over 15 musicals and plays at Harding. He has been in Honors a cappella and Honors Senior Wind Ensemble the last three years. He has been inducted into the National Honor Society and National Science Honor Society. He won the Bausch and Lomb Honorary Science Award last year. He is a member of the International Thespian Society. He received the Faculty Award in 2013 for the student who best represents the ideals of the school. He attended Harding University Choral camps the past three summers.

Congratulations to Hayley Ford who is a Commercial Appeal Academic All–Star in General Scholarship.

Hayley, a senior, is an exceptional student leader who balances strong academic pursuits with leadership and service activities.

She holds a 4.79 weighted grade point average and scored 32 on the ACT. She is a National Merit Commended Student and vice president of the senior class. She has taken five AP classes and 10 Honors classes. She has been a member of the Student Government Association for three years.

Though Hayley speaks softly, she has a quiet authority. She models classroom leadership skills by willingly participating in class discussions with insightful comments. Students naturally follow her example, which consistently benefits and creates positive outcomes for any project or team. She spearheaded a fundraiser for Water Wells for Africa, where she designed and sold water bottles, shirts, and wristbands. She is also a Street Ministries volunteer and tutor.
